Organisational & Process Change

As part of the formation of PCTs in Avon and the development of the Avon IM&T Consortium to provide shared services, we ran workshops for various stakeholders in the PCT localities, to establish priorities, shared work programmes and develop new ways of working.

As part of the programme to roll-out clinical messaging between Trusts and GP practices across Avon, Wilkins Consultancy managed projects to support practices in adapting their ways of working to incorporate electronic communications in more streamlined processes.

For Barnet Health Authority, Wilkins Consultancy provided part-time project management for the implementation of links between GP practices and the Health Authority for Patient Registrations and Items of Service claims. In addition to managing suppliers, the HA patient services and IT staff and liasing with practices, we developed guidance and ran workshops for practices on how to streamline their processes by using the EDI links fully.

Wilkins Consultancy performed an organisational analysis of demands on a community unit's Information and IT department, from within the Trust, and from purchasers and GP fundholders. This included a review of staffing, skills, experience and organisation to identify gaps, and we produced full task and job specifications, revised organisational structure and identified outsourcing opportunities.

For West London Healthcare NHS Trust, Wilkins Consultancy undertook a project to analyse the processes to provide management information for trust management and GPs. This made recommendations for automating the process to reduce the time and effort used, which were accepted, and Wilkins Consultancy managed the project to implement them.
