Wilkins Consultancy

IM&T Strategy

For Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Strategic Health Authority Wilkins Consultacy undertook the analysis of reguirements and deployment options to produce a Strategic Implementation Plan for introducing a community-wide PACS solution for all the Trusts and PCTs in the SHA area

In the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) we acted as Interim Strategy Manager for the PACS Programme and developed an outline strategy for expediting the implementation of PACS across the NHS by 2006.

We developed an ICT strategy for West London Mental Health Trust following its creation from several trusts, taking account of the implications of the National Strategic Programme.

Wilkins Consultancy provided the project management for the project to develop the Initial and Full Local Implementation Strategies (LIS) for "Information for Health" for the Barnet Health Community, and programme management for the implementation. When Barnet Health Authority merged with Enfield and Haringey Health Authority in 2001, we updated and merged the joint LIS, and programme-managed its implementation. As a result of this, Wilkins Consultancy is fully up-to-date with strategic developments in all sectors of the NHS, in line with the NHS Plan and Modernisation Agenda.

For Avon Health Authority, Wilkins Consultancy has managed the consultation process on Information Strategies for integrated Primary and Community Care and Children's services, revising the strategies and developing a decision path for the next stages of implementation.

Earlier work in Avon included running workshops and developing the strategic approach to Electronic Patient Records in primary care for inclusion in the Local Implementation Strategy.

Wilkins Consultancy helped develop the IM&T strategy for the Primary Care Walk-in Centre at Edgware Community Hospital, resulting in shared systems and administration with the Urgent Treatment Centre and the GP Out-of-Hours Co-operative which also operate on the same site.

After Barnet & Chase Farm NHS Trust was formed, by the merger of two trusts with very different IT systems and strategies, Wilkins Consultancy ran workshops and produced a draft outline strategy to help develop an EPR approach for the merged Trust. We participated in the EPR evaluation process to meet the strategy.

Funded by the World Health Organisation, Wilkins Consultancy undertook a review of current and planned primary healthcare computerisation for the Government of Mauritius. We advised on how to use the systems more effectively to support care delivery, including interfaces with secondary care and central laboratories, and covering technical infrastructure, I.D. smart cards, education and training.

Wilkins Consultancy advised on the strategic direction that SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories should take for electronic communications with NHS organisations for exchanging pathology requests and results, and screening information.
